Gyula Kosice died at 92 years old
Precursor of kinetic, luminous and hydrokinetic art, he was also cofounder of the Madi movement.
On Wednesday May 25 the prominent artist Gyula Kosice died, after boarding permancer several days for pneumonia. He was 92 years and the news of his death caused pain in the local cultural field that will pay you in the coming days a tribute at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the details still not transpired.
Kosice was born in Hungary in 1924. He came to Argentina in 1928. Here, he discovered literature and art. It was sculptor, plastic, theoretician and poet and is one of the pioneers of kinetic art lighting vanguard ie art made with light and movement. He studied drawing and modeling in free academies. He was cofounder of the magazine Arturo (1944) and his name will always be linked to the Madi Creacon (1946) Movement, which proposes the articulation between art and science and technology: he wrote his manifesto.
Kosice conceived a whole universe through models, drawings, statements and manifestos. He was the creator of the "hydrospatial city", an idea of spatial planning, with cities in suspension by a power generator hydraulic system. His works are in museums and private collections around the world.
