Jumex Museum presents Robert Ryman

From March 4 to April 30, 2017 the Jumex Museum will present Robert Ryman. This exhibition brings together six decades of transcendental paintings by Robert Ryman. Since the 1950s, the compositions of this artist are identified and characterized by their achromatic surfaces. Ryman, who has a deep awareness of his materials and possibilities, has described his aesthetic practice as a "challenge" to "make things happen" with painting. Viewers see and experience these frequencies painted light as white, but Ryman's radical exploration of the tonal values, light reflections, and spatial effects of white has never been limited to painting alone. From the beginning, he expanded his experiments with canvas, cardboard and paper to include aluminum, fiberglass and plexiglass into a vocabulary of materials that is as revolutionary as the use he gives to various shades of white.
