LA FORMA ETÉREA (THE ETHERE FORM), AN INDIVIDUAL EXHIITION OF TIRCO MATUTE AT HILO GALLERY, IN BUENOS AIRES CITY

Since August 9th, on Scalabrini Ortiz 1396 at HILO Gallery (Buenos Aires, Argentina) the Venezuelan artist Tirco Matute questions, from a material and structural sense, the narrative and formal mechanisms that respect all artistic research. In a way, the show tries to represent and think about the relationship between seeing and showing.

LA FORMA ETÉREA (THE ETHERE FORM), AN INDIVIDUAL EXHIITION OF TIRCO MATUTE AT HILO GALLERY, IN BUENOS AIRES CITY

Comparing the resources of artistic research with those of scientific research, Matute breaks down the processes involved in the first. Taking vestiges and remnants of the colonial era, the visual artist takes them out of their context dragging them violently to the present imitating, in a certain way, what museums and institutions do when choosing a work, moving it from its time towards a direction in particular. In addition, as a consequence of that process that describes the work of Matute, La forma etérea (The Ethereal Form) appears as a representation of the consequences that the selection of a perspective has against many possible ones.

The show will run until October 6 and has the curatorship of Alfredo Aracil (La Coruña, 1984), trained at the Reina Sofía Museum Study Center.
