SculptureCenter presents Luana Vitra: Amulets, the first institutional exhibition in the United States of the Brazilian artist, which invites visitors to look beyond materiality and imagine another dimension to which the works belong.

After four days of intense activity, during which key figures from the international and regional contemporary art scenes came together, the twelfth edition of Pinta Lima concluded at Casa Prado, reaffirming itself as one of the main events for contemporary art in Peru. This edition, directed by Irene Gelfman, celebrated cultural legacy and projected the future of Latin American art at a time when the Peruvian ecosystem —with the international rise of its artists, the strengthening of its gallery circuit, and the growth of local collecting— is advancing strongly toward consolidation.

 The EFG Latin America Art Award, in association with ArtNexus, announced Marilyn Boror Bor from San Juan Sacatepéquez (Guatemala), represented by Judas Galería from Valparaíso (Chile), as the nominated artist for its annual acquisition award.

Three proposals that explore the relationships between art, environment and society from unique perspectives. Although the artists come from different practices, communities and perspectives, their works dialogue with each other, offering an enriching and diverse experience.

This 2025, the EFG Latin America Art Award celebrates its 15th anniversary, consolidated as one of the most relevant recognitions of contemporary creation in the region. Within the framework of Pinta Lima, one of the fairs where the selection of nominated artists takes place, the impact this award has had on the visibility of Latin American visual arts is highlighted.

MAC Lima has inaugurated Contemporáneo 1. Materia :: Alchemy :: Device :: Flow, an exhibition poised to become a landmark for contemporary art in Peru. The show, the first in a series of biennial exhibitions based on the museum's collection, brings together the work of over 100 local contemporary artists.

Through the idea of an endless spiral, this exhibition at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) unfolds as a reverse retrospective of artist Magali Lara (Mexico City, 1956), beginning with two murals created especially for the show and tracing back to her earliest drawings from the 1980s and 1970s.

Peruvian artist Yerko Zlatar, alongside Mariana Otero, director of Puna gallery (Peru), explores the contemporaneity of traditional crafts in the NEXT Section of the fair. The collaborative duo showcases unique pieces rooted in traditional practices such as weaving, ceramics, and basketry, understood as living languages that enable the creation of new works of art.

Pinta Lima returns for its 12th edition from April 24 to 27, 2025, bringing with it three Bogotá-based galleries offering versatile and thought-provoking proposals. Together, they create a dialogue that spans a wide thematic universe characteristic of contemporary art: exploring the passage of time and materiality, questioning art history and identity, and exposing the visual culture of mass media.

This Wednesday, painter and artist Luis Felipe Noé, known as "Yuyo," passed away at the age of 87, leaving behind a fundamental legacy in contemporary Argentine art. His work, which encompassed painting, drawing, sculpture, and installations, reflected his ongoing quest to represent the complexity of the modern world.

As part of the artistic and technological innovation of the #12 edition of Pinta Lima, the winning proposal for the artistic intervention of the Audi Q6 e-tron, a 100% electric vehicle of the Audi company, was announced. The work entitled “Aurora Mar” by artist Gabriela María Ganoza Tacchino was selected for its powerful environmental message and its innovative use of sustainable materials.

The Cervantes Institute in Madrid presents Roberto Fabelo. Grafomanía, an exhibition featuring 50 works by Roberto Fabelo (Guáimaro, Cuba, 1951), most of them related to literary worlds and dialogues with other artists. The exhibition includes references to Gabriel García Márquez, Miguel de Cervantes, Goya, and Hieronymus Bosch—figures of great influence on the Cuban artist’s work.

The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), in collaboration with the Shipibo Conibo Center in New York and with the support of proyectoamil in Lima and White Cube gallery in London, presented the exhibition Sara Flores. Non Nete, the first solo show of the renowned Shipibo-Konibo artist in a Peruvian museum.

At the Lima Art Museum – MALI, the exhibition Yerko Zlatar. Ancestral Technology is currently on view. This show invites reflection on the contrast between the deep, harmonious connection that ancient Andean civilizations had with the cosmos and their environment, and the way we now live, governed by a technology driven by consumerism and individualism.

James Cohan presents the first New York solo exhibition of Claudia Alarcón & Silät, a collective of artists from the Wichí communities of northern Salta, Argentina; the show features new textile works exploring celestial themes.

The exhibition, which opened on November 28, 2024, presents for the first time a family collection of great significance to Peruvian history, consisting of portraits, religious paintings, and various objects. These pieces allow for an exploration of different aspects of life in the viceregal court of Lima during the 18th century. 

The terraces of the Nouvel Building at the Reina Sofía Museum are being transformed into a new exhibition space. Under the title A Different Order: Utopian Geometry and Kinetic Art, the space will showcase two sculptural works by Jesús Rafael Soto and Edgar Negret, along with a third piece by Martín Chirino.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano-Bozen presented a pioneering exhibition on the relationship between graffiti and contemporary art. Curated by Leonie Radine and Ned Vena, the show will be the first in an Italian museum to explore the history of spray paint in art. 

The event will bring together, for the first time, 24 art galleries and projects from different cities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico; it will take place on April 3, 4, 5, and 6 at Distrito Capitalinas, in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.

The Frye Art Museum announced the appointment of Rafael Soldi and Stephanie DeVaan to the Board of Trustees; their official term began February 10, 2025. Their addition expands the board to eleven members. DeVaan brings extensive nonprofit board experience as well as connections to both the tech and film communities, and Soldi is the first working artist to join the museum's board.

Delfina Foundation presents on April 4 Long Before the Walls, the first European solo exhibition by Uruguayan artist Ana Bidart. The show introduces a constellation of newly commissioned, site-specific installations and interventions at the Delfina house.

The CAV La Neomudéjar Museum is in its final days of exhibiting Ecos del Vacío (Echoes of the Void), a project developed by Guatemalan filmmaker and artist Verónica Riedel during her artistic residency at Kárstica Espacio de Creación, in the town of Cañada del Hoyo, Cuenca.

The Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain hosts the exhibition Estrategias de recuperación (Recovery Strategies), featuring three recent projects by the photographer. Including the series Las flores mueren dos veces (Flowers Die Twice, 2021–2024), Palimpsesto (2024–2025), and Maíz (Corn) (2023–present), the Mexican photographer explores the elements and causes that create distortion and fragmentation in memory.

The exhibition I Am Godzilla at Moderna Museet Malmö is the Argentinan artist's first in Sweden, showcasing over 350 works, both new and older, many of which are being presented for the very first time.

The exhibition brings together a group of eight artists whose work, though diverse in technique and approach, shares a common concern for social justice and historical memory.
