Since 1982, the French Embassy in Uruguay has been celebrating visual arts by organizing a competition to support artistic creativity of young talents. The Cézanne Prize, so named in honor of the father of modern art, is 40 years old and, for that reason, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Atchugarry (MACA) is presenting a retrospective exhibition of all the winners up to the present day.

The retrospective "40 years of the Cézanne Prize", curated by Manuel Neves, includes works by the 26 artists who have won the Cézanne Prize from 1982 to date: Daniel Amaral Oyarvide, Enrique Badaró Nadal, Fidel Sclavo, Ana Tiscornia, Martin Mendizábal, Felipe Maqueira, Carlos A. Guinovart, Eduardo Cardozo, Jorge Francisco Soto, Florencia Flanagan, Gerardo Goldwasser, Javier Bassi, Roberto Cancro, Ricardo Lanzarini, Rita Fischer, Lucía Pittaluga, Pablo Uribe, Mariana Duarte, Martín Verges, Javier Abreu, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Elián Stolarsky, Matías Paparamborda, Valentina Cardellino, Sebastián Santana Camargo and Tinno Circadian.

The exhibition of the works of the six finalists of the 2022 edition was presented at the same time. The Atchugarry Foundation will host the works of the young artists from October 22 to the end of November. The winner was Florencia Martínez Aysa, a 27-year-old visual artist from Florida. The prize consists of a scholarship for a residency in France.
