The XXI Support for Young Generations Art Contest gave nine winning artists the opportunity to exhibit their projects at the cultural centre La Casa Encendida. In addition, the Montemadrid Foundation  —the entity that directs and manages the centre's activities— gave an amount of 10,000 euros to each of the artists so that they can continue to develop their work.

El peso de la forma. El diseño gráfico de Carlos Cruz-Diez is the result of a collaboration between the Archivo Fotografía Urbana (Caracas, Venezuela) and the Cruz-Diez Art Foundation (Paris, France).

El Museo del Barrio is the first and leading museum in the country dedicated to preserving and presenting Latino art and culture. ESTAMOS BIEN - LA TRIENAL 20/21 is the Museum’s first large-scale national survey of Latinx art. Curated by El Museo del Barrio’s Chief Curator, Rodrigo Moura, Curator Susanna V. Temkin, and Guest Curator and Artist Elia Alba, the exhibition is on view to the public from March 13 to September 26.

Curated by Thyago Nogueira, coordinator of Contemporary Photography at the Moreira Salles Institute in Brazil, the exhibition covers the entire photographic production of one of the key figures in understanding the genocide of the aboriginal communities of the Amazon, mainly the Yanomami people.

The Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) presented its complete programme for 2021. Among the activities and exhibitions, two stand out: a retrospective of the Cuban visual artist Félix Gonzalez-Torres (Guaiamaro, 1957 - Miami, 1996) and the rescheduling of the exhibition of the Rafael Tous collection, originally scheduled for November 2020.

Twelve artists living and working in Argentina, Brazil, Georgia, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, and the United States respond to the notion of home in this exhibition curated by Sabrina Mandanici. On view through April 19.

On February 20^th, the Dos de Mayo Art Cantre (CA2M), in collaboration with the Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam, opened the solo exhibition Cecilia Vicuña. Veroir el fracaso iluminado (Cecilia Vicuña. Veroir the illuminated failure). Conceived as a retrospective exhibition of the Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña (Santiago de Chile, 1948), the project is curated by Miguel A. López (Lima, 1983) and has been supported by the Chilean Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage. This is the first exhibition of this size to showcase the artist in Spain.

Under the curatorship of Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz  —art critic and curator with an international career that includes institutions such as the Hermitage Museum and the National Gallery of Berlin— in collaboration with the actress Lina Botero, the artist's daughter, the exhibition was scheduled to close its doors on February 7^th. However, the public reception has been so good (more than 60,000 people have passed through CentroCentro to see Botero's work) that the date has been extended until Sunday 28^th.

In El Pran Projecten —Aruba-based platform dedicated to exhibiting the production of artworks that question the present of the former European excolonies in Central America—, the Cuban artist Ricardo Miguel Hernández (Havana, 1984) exhibits a series of photographic collages. Curated by Nelson González, When The Memory Turns To Dust II will be on view until the 31^st of March.

As part of the celebration of the activities to commemorate the 40^th Anniversary of ARCOmadrid, the exhibition ARCO. Recorridos Fotográficos (ARCO. Photographic Tours) is presented at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque. Curated by Rafael Doctor Roncero, the project brings together images produced by over eighty artists throughout the successive editions of the ARCOmadrid Art Fair, founded and inaugurated in 1982.

The exhibition, conceived by the Argentinean artist María Marta Fasoli (Mar del Plata, 1964), consists of a series of watercolours that explore the symbolism of the sea from the perspective of personal identity and its capacity to represent the dynamic character of the creative process.

The first exhibition of the Guatemalan composer’s útiles sonoros (sound tools) in the United States. The Pinta Group and their respective fairs, both Pinta Miami and BAphoto, introduced a series of videos in which the artists presented their works.

Guest curated by photographer Paul Graham, the show features nine contemporary photographers that present images made in the 21st-century United States, reflecting a movement towards a lyrical documentary practice. Their work fits the notion of “photography from the world”—photography that resists both narrative arcs and the drama of photojournalism and staged photography, grappling instead with the world as it is, in all its ambiguity and wonder.
