The Oolite Arts Board of Directors announced that they have selected national arts leader John Abodeely as the organization’s next president and CEO. He will take on his new role in January 2025.

The 2024-2025 rehang of Craig Robins Collection is titled The Sleep of Reason, based on Francisco de Goya’s El sueño de la razón produce monstruos, part of his major print series, Caprichos.

Neither one nor the other, but a wound is the exhibition by New York-based Colombian artist Camilo Godoy at Dot Fiftyone Gallery. Curated by Angelica Arbelaez, this exhibition showcases a bold exploration of historical and contemporary social divides.

ALTTRA Foundation organizes in three spaces in Palma, on the island of Mallorca, an exhibition that addresses the theme of insularity and its role and idiosyncrasy in a globalized world through several works by Cildo Meireles (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1948). The works chosen, corresponding to five different periods of the artistic production of one of the referents of Brazilian neo-conceptualism, trace a journey through some of the themes and investigations that the artist has developed throughout his life, from fortune and chance to the perception of the physically invisible but perceptible, such as sound, or the relationship between space and its use.

Contemplando es como fuimos cambiando (Contemplating is how we changed) is the exhibition, the first one in Spain promoted by an institution, that the CICC Tabakalera in San Sebastian is dedicating to Gabriel Chaile (San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, 1985), one of the most prominent names in contemporary Latin American sculpture. This proposal is intended to take an extensive look at his work, from his beginnings to his latest works produced in Lisbon, and which is recognizable by his monumental adobe, clay and metal pieces that reflect the morphology of the pre-Columbian ceramics of his native region.

Georgina Valdez is the founder and director of the Argentine gallery The White Lodge, with locations in Córdoba and Buenos Aires. The space is part of the NEXT section of Pinta Miami 2024, with works by artists Sandro Pereira and Nushi Muntaabski. In an interview with Arte al Día, the gallerist reflected on the role of art as an engine of transformation and the place of The White Lodge in the contemporary art scene.

The sculpture Mariposa de la vida (Butterfly of life), created by the Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry, was recently delivered to the Municipality of Maldonado; made of stainless steel, the work is 11.8 meters high and weighs approximately 30 tons.

Mirror of the Mind: Figuration in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection, the exhibition at El Espacio 23 explores the entangled, inseparable relationship between the physical and emotional aspects of the body.

In the upcoming edition of Pinta Miami –from December 5 to 8, 2024– Angelica Arbelaez will be in charge of the RADAR section. In a dialogue with Arte al Día, she reflects on the role of Latin American art in international artistic discourses and how artists from the region contribute to the construction of a new global artistic narrative for a richer and more inclusive world.

To paint the forest beings is the Special Project of Pinta Miami 2024. Curated by Irene Gelfman and Giuliana Vidarte, it brings together paintings by Shipibo-konibo indigenous artists with representations of the flora, fauna and cosmovision of the Peruvian Amazon to rethink the past, present and future of the planet.

In its third consecutive edition at The Hangar, in Coconut Grove, the Pinta Miami 2024 fair celebrates its eighteenth edition from December 5 to 8 with proposals that make visible the diverse artistic narratives of Latin America. An opportunity for gallerists, artists, curators, collectors and art lovers that seek to explore the region's contemporary discourses.

The Cisneros Institute is launching its first publication Momentum: Art & Ecology in Contemporary Latin America, a book that investigates how Latin American artists engage with their environments, addressing themes such as innovative relationships with the nonhuman, land disputes, colonial legacies, and visions for the future.

Pinta Miami brings together artists who explore the identity, memory and cultural diversity of Ibero-America. In this 2024 edition, several proposals seek to redefine the Latinx notion from unique and transformative perspectives.

Arte al Día takes a look at the curatorial selection that highlights works by Ibero-American galleries in the NEXT, RADAR and Main sections of Pinta Miami. The curatorial team for the 2024 edition of the fair is integrated by Irene Gelfman -global curator of Pinta and co-curator of FORO and Special Project-, Giuliana Vidarte -curator of NEXT and co-curator of FORO and Special Project- and Angelica Arbelaez -curator of RADAR.

ALTTRA Foundation organizes in three spaces in Palma, on the island of Mallorca, an exhibition that addresses the theme of insularity and its role and idiosyncrasy in a globalized world through several works by Cildo Meireles (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1948). The works chosen, corresponding to five different periods of the artistic production of one of the referents of Brazilian neo-conceptualism, trace a journey through some of the themes and investigations that the artist has developed throughout his life, from fortune and chance to the perception of the physically invisible but perceptible, such as sound, or the relationship between space and its use.

Contemplando es como fuimos cambiando (Contemplating is how we changed) is the exhibition, the first one in Spain promoted by an institution, that the CICC Tabakalera in San Sebastian is dedicating to Gabriel Chaile (San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, 1985), one of the most prominent names in contemporary Latin American sculpture. This proposal is intended to take an extensive look at his work, from his beginnings to his latest works produced in Lisbon, and which is recognizable by his monumental adobe, clay and metal pieces that reflect the morphology of the pre-Columbian ceramics of his native region.

Georgina Valdez is the founder and director of the Argentine gallery The White Lodge, with locations in Córdoba and Buenos Aires. The space is part of the NEXT section of Pinta Miami 2024, with works by artists Sandro Pereira and Nushi Muntaabski. In an interview with Arte al Día, the gallerist reflected on the role of art as an engine of transformation and the place of The White Lodge in the contemporary art scene.

The sculpture Mariposa de la vida (Butterfly of life), created by the Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry, was recently delivered to the Municipality of Maldonado; made of stainless steel, the work is 11.8 meters high and weighs approximately 30 tons.

Pinta Miami celebrated its 2024 edition from December 5th to 8th, 2024 with more than 16,500 visitors, 45 galleries and 14 countries present. The fair at The Hangar, Coconut Grove led to good sales –where over 90% of the galleries reported sales– and enthusiastic overall attendance providing a true exchange between private, public spheres and opportunities for artists and galleries.

Cuban artist Zilia Sánchez, known for her multidimensional paintings that challenge Minimalism with abstract, erotic forms, has died at the age 98. Her death was confirmed by the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and Galerie Lelong & Co., which has represented the artist since 2013.

Panama is preparing to become the epicenter of regional art with the first edition of Pinta Panama, May 21-25, 2025. At an effervescence moment for the local artistic ecosystem, the fair seeks to consolidate the Panamanian scene, promote the circulation of artists and create a meeting space for the artistic currents of Central and South America. Emiliano Valdes, general curator of the project, shares his vision of Panama's potential as a cultural connection point.
