HÉLIO OITICICA’S INSTALLATION IN NEW YORK

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Cuban Legacy Gallery, in collaboration with the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, presents Baruj Salinas: 1972–2022, a thematic survey of the acclaimed Miami-based Cuban American painter’s abstract work. Curated by Adriana Herrera, the show spans a half century of Salinas’ artistic career and features 40 works and includes paintings, works on paper, glazed ceramics, and an artist’s book. The works are borrowed from Miami collections, including that of the Cintas Foundation. The exhibition will be on view until August 14, 2022.

Pinacoteca de São Paulo presents Adriana Varejão: Sutures, Fissures, Ruins, a retrospective exhibition by Adriana Varejão (Rio de Janeiro, 1964). Curated by Jochen Volz, the museum’s general director, the show proposes a narrative that highlights the diversity and complexity of her production.

Tate Modern and Hyundai Motor announced that Chilean artist and poet Cecilia Vicuña will create the next annual Hyundai Commission. Vicuña (b.1948) is perhaps best known for her radical textile sculptures, combining natural materials and traditional crafts. A prolific multi-disciplinary artist, Vicuña explores the pressing concerns of ecology, community, and social justice. Her new site-specific work for the Turbine Hall will inaugurate on October 11^th  2022.

The New York based photography foundation Penumbra exhibits OCÉANOS by Roberto Huarcaya (Lima, Perú, 1959) until July 22^nd. The show presents the first-ever exhibition of this Peruvian artist’ large-scale photograms of the Pacific Ocean. In what could be described as a "photogrammatic performance," Huarcaya immerses himself into the waters of the sea to record its virulent nature and traces of contamination.

The Espace Monte-Cristo, the Parisian headquarters of the Fondation Villa Datris-Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, presents to celebrate its fifth anniversary "Cinétique! La sculpture en mouvement" (Kinetic! This is the first solo exhibition in the United States dedicated to Geles Cabrera, who is one of the most prominent female sculptors of her country. Geles Cabrera: Museo Escultórico will feature artwork created over 40 years of her career and will be on view from June 8 through July 30, 2022.
