RAFAEL VILLARES, THE Ch.ACO 2022 SELECTED ARTIST FOR THE EFG LATIN AMERICA ART AWARD
The EFG Latin America Art Award –in collaboration with ArtNexus– presented the Ch.ACO 2022 selected artist, Rafael Villares, as one of the finalists for the company’s annual acquisition award. The winner will be announced at Pinta Miami this week.

Rafael Villares, from NG Art Gallery, Panamá, is a Cuban multidisciplinary artist whose work gravitates mainly around the human relationship with the environment. He has done multiple collaborations with various branches of knowledge, such as science, accompanied by a genuine interest in research and interventions in public space.
The artist’s work was picked as the Ch.ACO fair finalist for the EFG Latin America Art Award prize. The selection process was done with the collaboration of Sebastián Vidal, Independent Curator, together with Celia Sredni de Birbragher, Director and Editor of ArtNexus.

The EFG Latin America Art Award was created to support a Latin American artist whose work is pre-selected through a juried process in Latin American contemporary art fairs throughout each year. Now in is twelfth edition, the award aims to promote Latin American visual arts production and increase awareness of regional fairs among collectors worldwide.
This year’s nominated artists were selected at the fairs SP Arte, São Paulo; PArC, Lima; arteBA, Buenos Aires; Ch.ACO, Santiago de Chile; and ArtBo, Bogotá.
As in earlier editions, once each of the finalists in the participating Latin American art fairs are nominated, the winning artist will be selected and announced in Pinta Miami, during Art Week in Miami. EFG Capital will acquire a work of art from one of the nominated artists, and it will be displayed permanently in the EFG Latin America Art Award collection at their Miami offices.
