A NEW EDITION OF THE MALI AUCTION TO CELEBRATE PERUVIAN ART
On April 6, the emblematic auction of the Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI returns in its XXXI edition at Casa Prado. The event will feature more than 60 pieces of art divided into micro sessions that mark a journey from historical to contemporary.

This April 6, the Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI celebrates its opening auction of the year. In this edition, the catalog shows micro sessions that include works oriented to historical and modern art, but also graphic design, photography and contemporary art. Among the list of renowned Peruvian artists are Camilo Blas, Elena Izcue, Ralph Bauer, Paul Susanibar, Javi Vargas, Elena Tejada and Rita Ponce de León. In addition, great exponents of national art who will represent Peru this year at the Venice Biennale are part of the selection, among them Julia Codesido, Violeta Quispe, Sandra Gamarra, Rember Yahuarcani and Roberto Huarcaya.
"This year is of special importance for Peruvian art. Our auctioneer and chairman emeritus of the Auction Committee serves as curator of the Peruvian pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024. Eight outstanding Peruvian artists will participate, an unprecedented event, representing all our regions, from the Amazonian and Andean art of Sarhua, to the coast," comments Talía Durand, president of the MALI Auction Committee.

It is also important to highlight that thanks to the Bidsquare platform, which has accompanied the auction for only three editions, a more international audience has been reached. It is along these lines that the auction, which is one of the most important instances for the Museum's sustainability, intends to internationalize and continue to showcase both established and emerging artists. For this reason, in this edition the auction will be broadcast live in Madrid and London, giving people in these cities the opportunity to participate in the bidding.
Casa Prado, the historic home of the Prado family, will be the main venue for this edition and will host an exhibition of the entire selection in the days prior to the event. And as is now tradition, each auction is accompanied by a silkscreen or poster. On this occasion, the artist invited to design it is Ralph Bauer.
